1. In the study, Antidepressant-like effects of cannabidiol (CNS & Neurological Drug Targets, Institute of Psychiatry, University of Rio de Janeiro, 2014, NIH), scientists saw that CBD exhibited an anti-anxiety and antidepressant effect in animal models. They concluded:
“Cannabidiol (CBD) is a constituent of Cannabis sativa with great psychiatric potential, including uses as an antidepressant compound.”
And another study, Cannabidiol reduces the anxiety induced by simulated public speaking in treatment-naïve social phobia patients (Neuropsychopharmacology, May 2011, NIH), scientists monitoring the anxiety levels of volunteers with Social Anxiety Disorder who had to give a mock public speech found that only one dose of CBD significantly reduced anxiety, cognitive impairment, and discomfort in their speech performance, and significantly decreased alert in their anticipatory speech.
In fact, the study found that the high levels of anxiety experienced by the placebo group were almost abolished in the CBD group.
“I think there’s good evidence to suggest that CBD could be an effective treatment of anxiety, addiction and other disorders,” says Dr. Esther Blessing, a psychiatrist and researcher at New York University. “These results suggest that CBD reduces anxiety in SAD and that this is related to its effects on activity in limbic and paralimbic brain areas.”
Scientists are finding that CBD restores balance to brain function in the areas of the brain responsible for “fight or flight” thoughts and feelings: the limbic and paralimbic brain areas. Scientifically, it’s been found that CBD regulates both the blood pressure and harmonic balance in your brain.

2. As recent articles on Crohn’s disease have proven, we know that CBD affects our Endocannabinoid system by encouraging homeostasis and reducing inflammation in both the gut and the brain. Well, a brand new study undertaken by the Journal of Clinical Investigation, A single dose of cannabidiol reduces blood pressure in healthy volunteers (Sep 9, 2018, NIH), showed that one dose of CBD reduced both resting systolic blood pressure and stroke volume while also fortifying the heart muscle and allowing it to beat more strongly in all of the nine volunteers. All of them.
