he CBD “debate” is fascinating. On one side are over 2,000 positive CBD studies on PubMed.gov, and amazing testimonials from RevitaOil users. On the other side are the often disastrous side effects of synthetic drugs. Yet, many skeptics still remain.
Well how about this shocking truth: a mother’s breast milk is one of the most highly concentrated cannabis products on the planet! Like it or not, cannabinoids–almost identical to CBD and THC–have been responsible for your health since birth!
These compounds are at the very core of human life. We must investigate and embrace their healing potential. This article will help advocates and skeptics learn the truth.
Cannabinoids: Catalyst to Life
If you’re not familiar, the endocannabinoid system is a series of receptors and compounds in your central nervous system. This system is what controls natural healing, pain, sleep cycles, immune system reactions, inflammation, and many other critical functions.
According to the University of California San Diego they are also the catalyst for the most critical moment after a baby’s birth: the desire to feed at his or her mother’s breast. That’s right, without a cannabinoid reaction between your brain and body, you would likely not exist.
The European Journal of Pharmacology published similar findings:
“Endocannabinoids have been detected in maternal milk and activation of CB1 (cannabinoid receptor type 1) receptors appears to be critical for milk sucking … apparently activating oral-motor musculature.”
The same researchers also found that endocannabinoids in breastmilk have been shown to help protect neurons in the postnatal development of the brain.
Mothers who breastfeed are likely familiar with a baby being “milk drunk,” (which despite alcohol’s hazards is socially acceptable). But the truth is that he or she is actually relaxed and “milk stoned” on the incredible healing compounds of the endocannabinoid system.
Cannabinoids and Emotional Development
A study published by the esteemed Israeli cannabis researchers at the University of Haifa found that, “CB1 receptors are essential for the extinction of conditioned fear associations, indicating an important role for this receptor in neuronal emotional learning.”
Without cannabinoids, your baby (and you too) cannot “get over” fears. This is another reason that so many PTSD survivors are finding relief. And with the “mind-body connection” between emotional and physical well being in mind, we cannot overestimate how important this truth really is.
The Journal of Psychopharmacology continues:
CB1 receptors are expressed at high levels in brain regions such as the amygdala, which are implicated in the control of anxiety and fear.

The development of these functions is critical in human life. Babies that are denied breastmilk and cannabinoid nutrition at a young age are set up for significant difficulties in emotional regulation.
Breastmilk is not only the baby’s food, but it’s also the baby’s jump-start on immunity, autonomy, emotional development, intelligence, and future outcomes. The effects of breastfeeding extend throughout all of childhood, not just infancy, and even into adulthood.
Breastfed children are protected against mental health problems and addictions. They tend to be higher in intelligence and more emotionally secure3 than children who were NOT breastfed.

Does it seem like the world could use some help with emotional regulation right now?
How Wrong Are We About Cannabis?
According to Dr. Melanie Dreher, most people are very wrong. In her controversial study, published by the reputable American Academy of Pediatrics, babies whose mothers had ingested cannabis during pregnancy “had better scores on autonomic stability, quality of alertness, irritability, and self-regulation and were judged to be more rewarding for caregivers.”
We’re not promoting cannabis use for babies, or saying that pregnant mothers should smoke or ingest cannabis. But we are saying–as is usually true–the popular opinion on cannabis health risks may be flawed.
Clear-headed researchers continue to prove that the human body was built to run on cannabinoids and we owe much of our lives to the life-generating power of these plant medicines.
Her video discusses the findings.
Homeostasis & Harmonic Balance
The endogenous cannabinoid system—named for the plant that led to its discovery—is one of the most important physiologic systems involved in establishing and maintaining human health. Endocannabinoids and their receptors are found throughout the body: in the brain, organs, connective tissues, glands, and immune cells.
With its complex actions in our immune system, nervous system, and virtually all of the body’s organs, the endocannabinoids are literally a bridge between body and mind. By understanding this system, we begin to see a mechanism that could connect brain activity and states of physical health and disease.

So if we accept that cannabinoids help us balance our minds and bodies, what prevents us from staying in that blissful state?
Primarily endocannabinoid deficiency and environmental toxicity.
An example: diabetes. A diabetic’s endocrine system struggles to maintain the correct glucose level, so glucose must be closely monitored, and insulin must be regularly administered.
The same is true for the many conditions and issues that cannabinoids regulate.
While on the subject of blood sugar, according to The American Journal of Medicine, “studies have found lower prevalence rates of obesity and diabetes in marijuana users compared with people who have never used marijuana.” They also found the marijuana users, “had smaller waist circumferences.”
It must be all the junk food that stoners eat that’s making them thinner and healthy, right? Wrong. It’s endocannabinoid nutrition. It’s homeostasis.
Endocannabinoid Nutrition: The Past & Future
We are at a critical point in history. Will, we re-discover the natural healing power of the human body and endocannabinoid system? Or will we continue suffering from the side effects and limited benefits of synthetic drugs?
The choice is ours. And the medicine has always been within us. It’s just a matter of making the decision to return to our roots (just remember to tell Mom “thank you!”).
But as is always the case, quality is the most important factor in the results and safety of the products you and your family consume.
